'Falling Dog' Favicon

This is one of my dogs imposed on a late afternoon sky, a fanciful representation of Hurricanes and Spitfires battling Messerschmitt 109s over the green fields of Kent throughout the summer and early autumn of 1940.

The RAF defended the UK against the Luftwaffe in what was the first-ever major campaign fought entirely by air forces. For the first time in WWII, Germany patently failed to achieve a major task which it had set itself: to gain air supremacy over southern England. This failure demonstrated that the Nazis were not invincible and stiffened the resolve of those determined to resist Hitler. The Battle of Britain was a major turning point. I love turning points.

"Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few."

Sir Winston Churchill, 20 August 1940
